Ossetians do not want to participate in the aggression against Ukraine. The next step is reconciliation with their brothers - the Georgians?

01.04.22 12:30

From the very beginning of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Russian authorities began to transfer Abkhazians and Ossetians there as "cannon fodder" to their certain death. Formally, because the separatist regimes of Sukhumi and Tskhinvali have recognized the so-called "independence" of the separatist DNR and LNR.  Abkhazians and Ossetians are thrown into the most dangerous and strategically "hopeless" section of the front - the Donbass.

Here, since 2014, the armed forces of Ukraine have built a deeply echeloned defense, which the aggressors have been unsuccessfully trying to break for more than a month, throwing to certain death more and more separatist units, both from the DNR and DNR, and from the separatist Abkhazia and so-called "South Ossetia".

But in most parts of the front in Donbass, Russian troops and separatists, despite the enormous losses, have not been able to make significant headway. All of Russia's "successes" in the first days of the war were the result of Russian troops breaking through unprotected sections of the border outside of Donbass.

Meanwhile, the situation has become even more hopeless for the aggressors in recent days. Their offensives against Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov, and Mykolaiv were stymied. Ukrainian troops recaptured the strategically important towns of Trostyanets in the Sumy region and Irpen in the Kiev region. As a result, the Russian Ministry of Defense "officially announced" the transition to the "next stage of the special operation" of the so-called "liberation of Donbass. This means that more and more "cannon fodder" will be thrown onto the Ukrainian fortifications here in order to literally "cover Ukrainian positions with corpses" in order to achieve at least some progress.

Russian occupants are "raking out" almost the entire gene pool of the Ossetian people from the occupied Tskhivali region and throwing it into the "meat grinder" in Ukraine.  First, the residents of so-called "South Ossetia" contractors of the 4th Guards Military Base of Russia were sent to war in Ukraine. On March 26, 2022, it became known that an additional contingent had been deployed. According to Telegram channels, "about 150 more guys from South Ossetia" were sent to Ukraine. And this is despite the fact that Tskhinvali has already begun to receive the funeral certificates from Ukraine, and some of the losses are concealed from Ossetian families, declaring their sons "missing".

Now in opposition to the current puppet regime, the former leader of the Tskhinvali separatists Eduard Kokoity, realizing that young Ossetians are being sent to their certain deaths, finally seems to have realized what terrible price Russia is asking for the fake "independence of South Ossetia".

At a meeting with supporters Eduard Kokoity said that soldiers from so-called "South Ossetia" who went to fight on the side of Russia in Ukraine, should be provided with at least basic conditions and at the same time he almost directly accused the Russian authorities of genocide of the Ossetian people.

"They are not cannon fodder, there are so few of us. We have practically lost our gene pool," Kokoity said.

Kokoity noted that Ossetians sent to war may die in Ukraine, and these are "young people who are just getting on their feet."

However, the Ossetian soldiers themselves, it seems, began to realize what a mortal "trap" they fell into with separatism and the so-called "alliance" with Russia. As a result, 300 of them, whom the Russian Federation wanted to transfer from the self-proclaimed "South Ossetia" to the war with Ukraine instead of the separatists killed during the first days of aggression, refused to participate in hostilities.

This was reported in particular by the Department of Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, citing intelligence data.

"A few days ago, almost the entire personnel of one of the battalion tactical groups (two motorized rifle companies and a mortar battery), which were formed from the 4th military base of the Russian Armed Forces (c/h 66431, Tskhinvali, South Ossetia) and engaged in the Donetsk direction, refused to participate in military aggression against Ukraine," the report says.

29 марта 2022 г. этих военных организованно переместили на военный полигон "Kuzminsky" to the Rostov Region, where they were interviewed by the deputy commander of the 58th Army for military and political work. However, his appeals proved fruitless.

Eduard Kokoity confirmed that Ossetian soldiers from the unrecognized pseudo-republic of "South Ossetia," whom Russia wanted to throw into the war against Ukraine, had laid down their weapons and returned home.

"We are all concerned about the situation around our soldiers who have returned home to Ossetia from the war zone. No one has the right to condemn these guys or blame them for cowardice. We must get to the bottom of what happened and find out how their participation was organized. We will deal with this very seriously.

The former de facto leader of South Ossetia also called on the relatives of the soldiers to calm down so as not to exacerbate the tense situation.

"This can only hurt our soldiers and complicate the situation, which is already tense. We will not let anyone hurt our guys and we will fight for each and every one of them. We must remember that hundreds of our fighters are now in the combat zone and are heroically doing their duty. We must not allow any circumstances to undermine their fighting spirit," Kokoity warned.

However, the former puppet "president" of Tskhinvali did not dare to break off openly and completely with his "masters".  He said that those Ossetians who had returned home, "if their participation is properly organized, they will be able to go again to the zone of special operations and help complete the liberation of Donbass."

"But I emphasize that the organization of their participation must be as responsible as possible. We are obliged to cherish every life," Kokoity added.

In principle, the Ossetians who refused to fight against the Ukrainian people did a noble and courageous thing. All the more that they are likely to understand that now one can expect the most brutal repressions from the Russian Federation that is "allied" and in fact occupies a common land with the brotherly Georgian people.

Now the Ossetians should not stop. The occupiers will not forgive them their disobedience and "self-will". Only reconciliation with the brotherly Georgian people and the return of Samachablo into a single Georgian state will allow the Ossetian people to avoid genocide, to which they are condemned by their insane adventures of the occupants.
