Georgia’s contender film for Oscars will be “Shindisi”

“Shindisi” will be Georgia’s contender film for 2019 Oscars, Academy Awards. The special commission made the decision through the secret balloting.

 

Five films were selected for gaining the status of Georgian contender film for Oscars:

 

“Parade” – directed by Nino Zhvania

“Before Father Gets Back” – a documentary directed by Mari Gulbiani

” Inhale-Exhale” – directed by Dimitri Tsintsadze

“Neighbors” – directed by Gigi Abashidze

“Shindisi” – directed by Dimitri Tsintsadze

“Shindisi,” is about 17 soldiers, who died during August 2008 Georgia-Russia war.

 

The producer of the project “Shindisi” is Edmond Minashvili. The 20-member cast underwent training at the base of Defense Ministry for fighting scenes. Actors Goga Pipinashvili and Dato Bakhtadze play the leading roles in the film.

 

The film is directed by Dito Tsintsadze. A total of 801 384 GEL was allocated from the reserve fund of the Georgian government to shoot the film.
