Ombudsman Nino Lomjaria leaves for Strasbourg

Public Defender Nino Lomjaria has left for Strasbourg. As the Public Defender told the media, during the visit, meetings with high ranking officials will be held in the Council of Europe. The meeting with the President of the Strasbourg Court is also scheduled.

 

According to her, the topics to be discussed at the meeting will include the events of July 5, the case of Mikheil Saakashvili, etc.

 

"I will travel to Strasbourg, meetings will be held at a high level, I also plan to meet with the President of the Strasbourg Court. Probably, the focus will be the events that took place in Georgia on July 5 and, of course, I will provide them with information on the state of the investigation. There was, of course, interest in Mikheil Saakashvili's case. The purpose of the visit is to share information with the institutions of Strasbourg, the institutions of the Council of Europe regarding the current situation in Georgia in terms of human rights protection and to provide them with updated information," said Nino Lomjaria.
