According to Mikheil Saakashvili's Ukrainian lawyer, Yevgeny Grushovets, several cases have been launched at the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office against Penitentiary officials in connection with Saakashvili's torture, inhuman treatment, damage to health and ill-treatment.
Speaking to reporters, the Ukrainian lawyer said that the Georgian authorities had proved that they could not prosecute these people and dissolved the State Inspector's Service, therefore, "Ukraine will do everything possible to raise the issue of responsibility of these individuals."
According to him, Mikheil Mikheil Saakashvili wrote a statement to be recognized as a victim in these cases and addressed the Prosecutor General of Ukraine with an official statement.
"Mikheil Saakashvili wrote a statement to be recognized as a victim in these cases. We have already held a number of meetings with Ukrainian state agencies. Doctors and experts are ready to come to Georgia to assess the degree of damage done to Saakashvili's health. When we return to Ukraine, we will submit the relevant documents to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Mikheil Saakashvili personally addressed the Prosecutor General too. We believe that systematic and permanent efforts are underway to further damage Saakashvili's health," said Evgeni Grushovets.
