Gigi Ugulava: This country needs a broad, political amnesty, i.e. the so-called millennium act, which will cover the period from 2000 to the present, all three epochs

This country needs a broad, political amnesty, i.e. the so-called millennium act, which will cover the period from 2000 to the present, all three epochs, - opposition politician Gigi Ugulava wrote about it on Facebook.

According to him, amnesty does not oblige to acquit anyone.

“A few words about "reconciliation". This word is completely incomprehensible.

First, reconciliation cannot be collective. Second, no one can force anyone to reconcile. Repentance is also an inappropriate phrase, especially when one side, the government "calls you", actually forces you to repent, but does not repent itself, even though it has much more to repent. Neither I, nor Kobakhidze, nor the Patriarchate can call for express repentance.

So what are we talking about? We can never agree on the past or the present. We must agree on what the country needs for the future, for development!

For the future, this country needs a broad, political amnesty, i.e. the so-called millennium act, which will cover the period from 2000 to the present, all three epochs.

Why do we need it?

In order for the next government not to judge the previous governments with the same "clan", which results not in justice, but in political polarization. This will allow the court to breathe and strengthen, while the country will be able to focus on the future.

Amnesty does not oblige to acquit anyone. Today, the only right way is a broad political amnesty, i.e. the so-called millennium act.

This is how I understand this process and I think the time has come for a substantive discussion on this topic," Ugulava wrote.
