Meeting held with Ambassador of Ukraine at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia regarding Mikheil Saakashvili’s case

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Deputy Minister Teimuraz Janjalia met with Ambassador of Ukraine to Georgia Igor Dolgov.

 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the topic of the meeting was the situation relating to Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili and the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

 

"The Ambassador of Ukraine was once again briefed on the steps taken by the state to protect Mikheil Saakashvili's health and safety. It was noted that the Ukrainian side has the opportunity to receive comprehensive information on any issue concerning Mikheil Saakashvili from the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine and the counterpart agencies.

 

Accordingly, the Georgian side expressed hope that this will no additional questions will be raised by the partner state regarding the protection of Mikheil Saakashvili's rights, which is carried out in full compliance with Georgian law and international standards," the Foreign Ministry said in the statement.

 

The Georgia-Ukraine strategic partnership, importance of legislation, state institutions and justice system was underlined at the meeting.
