Malkhaz Machalikashvili not allowed to set up tent in front of Parliament’s building

25.07.19 14:00

Malkhaz Machalikashvili, father of a terror-related case suspect – Temirlan Machalikashvili – who was shot dead during a detention operation in December 2017, wants to set up a tent in front of the parliament’s building again, but police prevent him doing it.

Kakha Bukhradze, Head of Patrol Police Department, told Machalikashvili that “they consider it unreasonable at this stage to set up a tent, because rehabilitation works are planned to be launched there.”

On his turn, Malkhaz Machalikashvili claims that he intends to set up a tent.

“I plan to set up a tent. It’s a small tent. My protest has not been stopped for the last 11 months. Tell me, why did you kill my son, was he an offender or not” If he was, give me any evidence, if he was not – let the state recognize its crime. They say that they have made a mistake and they want to negotiate with Machalikashvili. No talks will be held until they recognize that they have killed a sleeping child and declared that child as a terrorist in order to justify their crime. I have been demanding it for 429 days here,” Machalikashvili said.
