In order to organize the Georgian National Pavilion at the 2022 Venice Biennale, negotiations are currently underway for two different spaces and one of them will be selected.

In addition, on October 5 of this year, the Ministry of Culture of Georgia will announce a competition to select a project to be presented at the Venice Biennale at the Georgian National Pavilion next year.

At the briefing, Magda Guruli spoke in detail about the vision and noted that the Venice Biennale is a large-scale forum of contemporary art, where the world art world shows important works and contemporary trends created in the last two years. Journalists sometimes refer to it as the "Olympic Games" of contemporary art.

In the context of the global pandemic, the Venice Biennale changed its natural chronology for the first time since World War II and is being held in 2022 instead of 2021.

" Participation in the Venice Biennale is especially important for Georgia, on the one hand, to establish its place on the world contemporary art map and, on the other hand, to show the creative, intellectual and cultural trends in the country to the world art media, international audience and professional circles after the forced pause caused by the epidemic." Magda Guruli.

The Venice International Art Biennale is the largest and most prestigious exhibition of contemporary art, founded in 1895 and spanning more than 120 years. 59th International Art Exhibition 2022 will be held April 23 to 27 November and was called "milk dreams " (The Milk of Dreams) was called. The name is taken from the book of the same name by the surrealist artist, Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) . This was announced by the Artistic Director of the 2022 Venice Biennale , Cecilia Alemann, in June this year.

Alemann's text of the same title ends: “Although recent events seem to have cut and fragmented the world, the exhibition Milk of Dreams seeks to bring about change and new rules of coexistence. Despite the current situation, the exhibition strives for optimism and celebrates the opportunity for art to create alternative cosmologies and new conditions for existence. He asks the artist not to reveal who we are, but to show by overcoming fear and anxiety who and what we can transform . "

The 59th Biennale presents three main topics - " Representation of bodies and their metamorphosis; Connections between individuals and technologies; Relations between bodies and the earth. " These ideas arose and developed last year, during a discussion with artists.

According to Alemann , “the endless questions that come to mind capture this period in history, the moment when living things are in danger. In addition, these questions summarize all the doubts that have gripped science, art, and the myths of our time. How does a human definition change? What is life and what is the difference between humans, animals, plants and inanimate objects? What responsibilities do we owe to the planet, other people, and the organisms we live with? What would life be like on earth without us? These are the questions that will follow the background of the Biennale . "

The information is spread by the Ministry of Culture.
