Son of Georgian Dream majoritarian candidate arrested for wounding supporters of National Movement in Dmanisi

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained Davit Dautashvili, the son of Mikheil Dautashvili, the majoritarian candidate of the Georgian Dream, for wounding the supporters of the United National Movement in Dmanisi municipality. According to the agency, during the verbal and physical confrontation that took place during the pre-election meeting, the accused used a knife to inflict injuries on the face of the supporters of the United National Movement party.

 

“Officers of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-investigative measures, arrested one person in Dmanisi - D.D., born in 1993, on charges of inflicting intentional grievous bodily injuries.

 

The offence carries a maximum sentence of 3 to 6 years in prison.

 

The investigation established that the accused used a knife to injure the supporters of the United National Movement party on September 21, 1976, during a verbal and physical confrontation during a pre-election meeting in the village of Gantiadi, Dmanisi Municipality. The injured men were taken to a hospital where they are receiving appropriate medical treatment.

 

Police arrested the accused in Dmanisi Municipality a few hours after the incident.

 

Intensive investigative and operative measures are being taken to identify all persons involved in the incident and impose appropriate legal liability”, reads the stamen of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
