The 100% vaccination rate is nowhere to be found, not even in private schools. Last week we studied the vaccination rate in both public and private schools and the 100% rate is nowhere to be found, - Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control, told reporters after a meeting of the Coordinating Council.

According to him, the vaccination rate does not differ significantly between public and private schools. As he noted, in both types of educational institutions this figure ranges up to 70%.

"The studies must start in October and the Center for Disease Control confirms its readiness that the education process be restored in classes. Our recommendation is that the vaccination rate in schools be 80%. At the same time, it will be a matter to be taken into account as to how many people will be infected with the virus, which is part of the overall immunity. I would also like to say that not only teachers but also parents should definitely get vaccinated together with the rest of the family. Only in this case, the restoration of education will be considered and it must be restored in the classrooms", - said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

In addition, Gamkrelidze provided the public with vaccination statistics in the education sector.

"55% of all public school staff are vaccinated with at least one dose, of which 33% are fully vaccinated. The rate of single vaccination among teachers is 58%, of which 36% are fully vaccinated. 64% of private school teachers have been vaccinated with at least one dose, and 44% have been fully vaccinated, of which the highest rate is in Tbilisi - 70%.

Unfortunately, the lowest vaccination rate is among students. We have calculated the vaccination rate for bachelors, masters and doctoral students and it is only 17%", - Gamkrelidze said.
