University employee detained on bribery charges

An investigation has been launched under Paragraph II, Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving breach of safety norms when carrying out construction or other works.

 

The officers of Anti-Corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Gia O., chief specialist of International Relations Department of Tbilisi State Medical University and citizen Lili J, - the State Security Service has told InterPressNews.

 

An investigation has established, that the employee of Tbilisi State Medical University, with the assistance of Lili J. accepted USD 1000 as a bribe from a citizen and in return promised that the enrollee would successfully compete an interview necessary for enrollment at the same university, when they were detained by the officers of Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service.

 

The investigation is in progress on the fact of accepting bribes and assistance in accepting bribes (Article 338, paragraph I of the Criminal Code of Georgia). The committed crime envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment.

 

The investigation is carried out by Anti-corruption Agency under State Security Service of Georgia.
