On my instructions, the government is working to build a new city, including casinos, offices and banks, on the site of the former Gonio polygon, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said at the presentation of Khelvachauri mayoral candidate Zaza Diasamidze.

 

As the head of government noted, the concept is now being developed, which will be completed by the end of the year.

 

"I want to share one important information - we are in this historical, beautiful place, in the famous Gonio fortress. We also know that here is also a unique place - the former Gonio polygon, which is about 300 hectares, or more. On my instructions, the government is working with the Ministry of Economy, including the local government of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, and we have the following vision that a special economic zone with its financial center should be created on the site of the former Gonio polygon. In fact, this project and idea concerns the construction of a new city. We are currently working on a concept that will be completed by the end of the year. We want to involve the best company and organization that specializes in this field and a new city should be built in Gonio, with its casinos, offices, banks, financial center and, in fact, we should bring new life to this region," - said Irakli Gharibashvili.
