About every 50th and 60th of our fellow citizens is infected with the coronavirus - the situation is very difficult, - said the deputy head of the National Center for Disease Control, Paata Imnadze at the webinar.

As Imnadze notes, the healthcare system is still able to withstand this epidemic, however, "everything has its limits."

"Today we have an absolute record in the country, 50 thousand people are infected in the country at the moment. If we assume that the positivity rate is 10%, it means that the proportion of those people that we do not yet know are infected is 20-25 percent more. Therefore, if we recalculate, it turns out that about every 50th and 60th of our fellow citizens is infected. This is a reality that is, of course, it's a very difficult situation.

For comparison, if we count per 100 thousand inhabitants, it is about 5 times more difficult situation than it was in India, everyone remembers the footage as what was happening at that time. Our health care system is still withstanding. The restrictions, which were announced yesterday and will come into force tomorrow, are because everything has its limits", - Imnadze said.
