We have a very high positive rate, the statistics will be growing, - the Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze told reporters.

According to her, the vaccination process has significantly improved.

"As I have repeatedly stated to the media, of course, we are going through a peak. Today we still have a fairly high rate of positivity, which is a sign for epidemiologists and the healthcare sector that the statistics will still be growing. Today we have about 46 thousand active cases. Most of these cases are handled by our family doctors at home. Up to 8,000 beds are mobilized across the country, the majority of which, of course, is in Tbilisi.

We have been observing the fairly high rate of infection in Tbilisi for the last 2 weeks, which was primarily due to the fact that as a result of some mobility, people became ill in different regions and then returned to Tbilisi, to their places of residence.

We observe that in the regions, the infection is growing, the mobilization of the beds is of course taking place at the regional level. Today more than 3 thousand patients are undergoing inpatient treatment in Tbilisi, up to 900 in Adjara, up to 1000 patients in Imereti.

The positive thing today is that the vaccination process has improved significantly. We are seeing an increase every day that people are more and more confident about the vaccine, therefore making decisions. This is very good, however, epidemiologists and other health professionals have repeatedly noted that the results of vaccination will appear relatively later. In order to be able to manage the infection and stabilize the existing peak, it is important to use facemasks intensively, observe social distance and the public to adequately respond to regulations", - said Tikaradze.
