27.07.21 14:20

Paata Imnadze, the Deputy Head of the Center for Disease Control, confirms that the so-called Delta + strain got observed in Georgia.

"About half of all cases of the virus are caused by delta strains. Including the so-called Delta + strains are also recorded, which have one additional mutation, they are uploaded to the world database. I confirm that Delta + has been registered in Georgia," Imnadze said.

Gamkrelidze also confirmed the existence of Delta + strain. According to him, this is not a Georgian strain.

"There is no Georgian strain. It is a common delta or Indian strain. As you know, viruses mutate, and this is its underlying Delta Plus. We have deciphered 2 cases of Delta Plus by sequencing," said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
