Becoming engaged in the parliamentary work without signing the European Commission President, Charles Michel mediated document has no value. The United National Movement (UNM) party will have to sign the document. Otherwise our reaction will be harsh, said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream (GD) party.
According to Kobakhidze, UNM members will not be invited to the working formats and will not be able to enjoy the relevant privileges until they sign the EU-brokered document.
“If they do not sign the Michel Document, they will not be able to enjoy the privileges under the Michel Document, including the work formats associated with the execution of this document. They will not be invited in working formats until they sign this document, be it a working group on electoral reform or judicial reform, etc.,” Kobakhidze claimed.
The largest opposition United National Movement (UNM) party engaged in the parliamentary work from Tuesday. The political party will have a 32-member faction in the supreme legislative body to be headed by Khatia Dekanoidze. Levan Bezhashvili, Giorgi Botkoveli and Nato Chkheidze will be deputy chairpersons of the faction.
Although the UNM members took up their MP mandates, the party lawmakers refuse to sign the April 19 EU-brokered compromise agreement.
