Davit Zalkaliani: We have not physically brought Ambassadors to the Parliament, they came themselves

12.07.19 17:00

We have not physically brought Ambassadors to the Parliament, they came themselves and got acquainted with the situation, - said Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani.

According to him, the Ministry has constant communication with the accredited ambassadors, but they also receive information about the ongoing processes in the country from their own information sources.

"The situation was changing very quickly in June. Naturally, the ambassadors accredited in the country had an interest in the ongoing processes. There is nothing surprising that we had constant communication with them, but they had their own information sources as well. Our role as a foreign ministry is to constantly provide information to the ambassadors. There was not any physical mobilization. We have not physically brought Ambassadors to the Parliament, they came themselves and got acquainted with the situation," Davit Zalkaliani said.

The Minister could not specify the ambassadors who arrived at the parliament on the night of June 20. He only named the German ambassador and said that he could not remember others.

The comment of the Foreign Minister comes after Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated he was observing events from the parliament building together with ambassadors of several countries on June 20.
