Red Cross" will donate 100,000 doses of Sinopharm to Georgia. The Ministry of Health informed InterPressNews about it.
According to them, the information became known at the meeting between the Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze and the representatives of the humanitarian organization.
As the First Deputy Minister explains, the details of the vaccine delivery will be known in the near future.
"Georgian "Red Cross" as well as the "International Federation of Red Cross" have been actively assisting us in the pandemic management process since the very first days of the epidemic. Today's meeting focused on the main areas of future cooperation and, most importantly, the assistance of the Red Cross in the process of getting the vaccine. It is planned to donate the Sinopharm vaccine particularly through the International Committee of the Red Cross and also the Chinese Red Cross. This will be a great help to our vaccination program. The details will be announced in the near future as to when the 100,000 doses offered by the Red Cross will be available", - Tamar Gabunia said.
Natia Loladze, President of the Red Cross society, and Olga Jumaeva, Head of the Office of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the South Caucasus, attended the meeting on behalf of the humanitarian organization.
"We are working closely with the Chinese Red Cross, they will hand over the vaccine to the Georgian Red Cross, and we will hand it over to the ministry. At the first stage, we are talking about 100,000 doses", - said Natia Loladze.
We would like to remind you that the World Health Organization authorized the Sinopharm vaccine yesterday.
Georgia started the process of immunization with Sinopharm vaccine on May 4, and registration for vaccination is available for people over 18 years of age.
