Today, the judge will simply announce the decision, in relation to which he has probably already received a call. This is a purely political decision, it has nothing to do with the court or justice, - Zaal Udumashvili, one of the leaders of the National Movement said.
According to him, if a decision is made to release Nika Melia, it will be a signal that the window for negotiations is still open and negotiations may continue. At the same time, as Udumashvili stated, the release of Nika Melia alone is not enough, as Giorgi Rurua is also a political prisoner and the persecution against him should be stopped.
"It is very difficult to make any prediction today about what decision the judge will announce, because everyone knows that this decision will be made in a completely different room. This decision will be made directly by Bidzina Ivanishvili and today the judge will simply announce the decision, in relation to which he has probably already received a call. This is a purely political decision, it has nothing to do with the court or justice.
If a decision is made to release Nika Melia, it will be a signal that the window for negotiations is still open and negotiations may continue. However, the release of Nika Melia alone is not enough, as Giorgi Rurua is also a political prisoner and the persecution against him should be stopped. One more thing, we are not really going to trade with the release of Nika Melia, so the demands that we had remain valid. The release of Nika Melia and Giorgi Rurua will be just a signal that the talks may resume and we may reach an agreement," Udumashvili said.
