Head of Adjara Regional division of National Food Agency detained for bribery

The officers of Anti-Corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia detained Ilia S., the head of Adjara Regional division of LEPL National Food Agency under the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia on bribery charges.

 

As the State Security Service informs, an investigation ahs established, that Ilia S. demanded and received GEL 3300 as a bribe from the businessman and in return promised to issue veterinary certificate, necessary for taking cattle outside of Georgia.

 

The investigation is underway on the fact of bribery (Article 338, Part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment).

 

The Investigation is carried out by Anti-corruption Agency under the State Security Service of Georgia.
