Ivanishvili is a crucial member of the political environment he criticizes and therefore could've offered a more balanced reflection of his reign, - MEP Markéta Gregorová told InterPressNews.
According to the MEP, it is difficult to say whether Bidzina Ivanishvili will actually be able to leave the party.
"It is difficult to assess Mr. Ivanishvili's plans for the future. Given his position within the party over the years, it is hard to tell how much he will be really able to leave and how will the party function without him. Of course, if he stays in the party's background, we won't know much difference", - stated Gregorová.
In addition, Gregorová adds that Ivanishvili's criticism of other parties in the open letter is surprising. The Czech MEP also hopes that the change in the party will not affect the Georgian Dream's ambitions to get close to the EU.
"It is quite surprising to read in his open letter such a critique of other political parties and situation within Georgia. He is a crucial member of the political environment he criticizes and therefore could've offered a more balanced reflection of his reign. I nevertheless hope that this change won't affect Georgia Dream's voiced ambitions to get closer to the European Union in the upcoming years and I look forward to that", - stressed Gregorová.
