Giorgi Gakharia: It is impossible to talk about the success of the country until at least one person is internally displaced

It is impossible to talk about the victory and success of the country until at least one person in this country is internally displaced, - Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said in Kaspi, where the Georgian Dream presented Giorgi Khojevanishvili as a majoritarian candidate.

The Prime Minister focused on the Russian occupation and noted that the only way to overcome the occupation was to create a European state where human rights would be protected.

"No matter where we are - in Kaspi, Gori, Kartli, Samegrelo, Kakheti or Samtskhe - everyone should understand well that occupation is our biggest problem. Occupation is a problem that will be a daily occurrence for us until we solve this problem. We work every day to strengthen economy in the Georgia-controlled territory, to make it successful, to take care of each person and to spare no efforts for our future. We work every day in order to enable our citizens beyond the occupation line - our Ossetian and Abkhaz citizens - to see this difference. This is the goal of our daily life. Everyone should understand very well that when we stand up and start the working day, especially in Kaspi, there is no achievement, or failure, that was not conditioned by occupation.

When we talk about occupation, we are not just talking about land, we are talking about people who have become refugees in their homeland and it is impossible to talk about the victory and success of the country as long as at least one person in the country is internally displaced. That is why we all need to understand that the goal that we must achieve is a successful, strong economy, a European state where human rights and dignity are protected. We will not achieve this goal alone, we will achieve it for our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers. This is the only way of overcoming occupation," Giorgi Gakharia said.
