We must wear masks not formally, but as epidemiologists and doctors recommend it, and we must take care of the health of our citizens, older people and children, - Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia said at the government meeting.

"Two international rating organizations have maintained Georgia's investment rating during the last two weeks, which is, of course, an achievement. We must do our best together with our citizens to protect this rating. For this we need to pay attention to the demands of epidemiologists, no matter where we are - in Batumi, Tbilisi or elsewhere. We have to observe the social distance, we have to wear masks not formally, but as epidemiologists and doctors recommend it, and we must take care of the health of our citizens, older people and children," said the Prime Minister.

According to him, an increase in the number of infections was expected.

"We have taken very cautious steps to open the economy, both in terms of international flights and domestic tourism. We must remember that according to the decision of our government, the educational process will start in the classrooms and children will go to school from September 15. This will further increase mobility, which requires even more responsibility from each of us.

That’s why the relevant ministries - the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health and local municipalities – have been tasked to further tighten control over the implementation of the legislative requirements. First of all, this concerns wearing masks in indoor space and social distancing. All this is necessary to maintain our achievements and achieve more success," Gakharia said.
