Abusers will have to wear electronic bracelets from September 1

From September 1, along with the restraining order, abusers will have to wear electronic bracelets. The author of the relevant legislative changes is the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

 

"According to the amendments, in case of a real threat of recurrence of violence and the consent of the victim, the abuser will have to wear an electronic bracelet. As a result, the law enforcement agencies will be able to control the abuser’s movement in the pre-determined area via GPS system," the agency said.

 

According to the Ministry, before the enactment of the law, UN Women handed over 100 electronic devices (bracelets) and relevant infrastructure to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

 

"Combating domestic violence/violence against women and domestic crime is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry is gradually taking a number of measures in this direction," the Ministry said.
