The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, has proposed to teach the Constitution and the principles of the Constitution in schools. The above is said in the statement released by the President on the occasion of the Day of Constitution.

According to the President, the Constitution of Georgia is the axis of the Georgian state, the unifying document of the Georgian people, each of its citizens, a bridge between generations, a way of development and a model for the future. She called it a symbol of the country's constitutional stability, unity and national independence.

"Despite the existence of ancient monuments of law in Georgia, the history of the Constitution began in 1918, when the Act of Independence was adopted and later the Constitutional Commission drafted the Constitution.

The Constitution adopted in 1921 is a symbol of freedom in our history. Although the Constitution was adopted just days before the occupation of Georgia, it became a pillar of freedom and served as the legal basis for restoring statehood and gaining independence in 1991”, reads the statement of the President.

According to her, the Constitution has the power to establish a state-oriented and legal awareness. “And that's why I have this initiative - to teach the Constitution and the principles of the Constitution in schools! The Constitution should be perceived as a living set of principles and norms, as their implementation is the basis for the independence, freedom and progress of our country," – reads the statement.
