A new myth about the "ancient Armenian community of the time of Tigran the Great" in the historical Georgian Sochi

07.08.20 10:00

Before our eyes, “another Armenia” is gradually being formed on the shores of the Black Sea. It consists of two parts: the Russian Krasnodar Territory, where Armenians are especially in the Sochi region, and in the occupied Georgian Abkhazia, again at the suggestion of the Armenian lobby. In separatist Abkhazia, after the expulsion of most of the indigenous Georgian population and the degradation of the Abkhaz ethnos, the Armenians have in fact become the largest ethnic group and completely dominate the economy.

However, until recently in Sochi and the Armenians, speaking about their history in these lands, they modestly called themselves "refugees from the Turkish genocide." But now the claims of Armenian nationalists to foreign lands are "justified" by how "ancient" and "indigenous" they have reached the Russian North Caucasus, or rather, the city of Sochi in the Krasnodar Territory, which has already become "semi-Armenian".

This is a sure sign that the process of rooting Armenians in separatist Abkhazia and the Russian Krasnodar Territory has gone too far. They make up the absolute majority of the population in the Gagra, Sukhum, Gulshipsh districts of Abkhazia. In the most prestigious areas of Greater Sochi, in particular, in Adler and its environs, the share of Armenians already exceeds 50% and is constantly growing.

As for the economy, it is problematic to find in the same Sochi large, medium, and even small businesses that do not belong to Armenians. The same applies to separatist Abkhazia, therefore, gradually Armenian historians and falsifiers begin to substantiate their historical rights to the lands they like.

It turns out that both Georgian Abkhazia and the ancient historical Georgian land of Jiketi, together with the city of Sochi, are the place where “Armenians have settled since ancient times”. This very material was recently published on Yandex.Zen under the title “Why are there so many Armenians in Sochi? The history of the emergence of the Armenian community in Sochi ”(https://zen.yandex.ru/media/specialforyou/pochemu-v-sochi-tak-mnogo-armian-istoriia-poiavleniia-armianskoi-obsciny-v-sochi-5eca876e80d7d253978cd0bd?fbclid= IwAR00b3YUTg7fVcAfcCm3H4Tf6cSiX0UsnTNSS-XfrHgZ33jo7IG-ObHHwHY). We give article in full:

"Hello! I think many of you have noticed that there are really many Armenians in Sochi. They work in taxis, public catering, and many other places. According to the last count, there are about 200 thousand Armenians in Sochi.

Let's put everything on the shelves and learn about the history of the appearance of these people in the territory of the modern city of Sochi.

When and how did the Armenians appear in the Krasnodar Territory?

Let's turn to history. According to some sources, the first appearance of the Armenian population on the territory of Krasnodar Territory is attributed to the 1st century BC. According to some historians, this happened during the stay of the many thousands of Armenian legions of Tigran the Great.
In turn, the formation of the modern regional group of Armenians here is attributed to three main periods. These periods are characterized by large migration flows 10-15 centuries, 1860-1916. and the last wave took place after the collapse of the USSR.

When did most of the community move in?

It is difficult to say 100%, but experts have delimited the time frame of the settlement as follows. During the Middle Ages, only 15% of Armenians settled in the Krasnodar Territory. Between 1860 and 1916, about 45% of the entire large community moved to the region.

About 40% of Armenians are "new settlers" who settled in the province during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. When and how did the representatives of the Armenian community appear on the territory of modern Sochi? The first Armenian migrants to the territory of Sochi appeared in the middle of the 19th century. Then, at the suggestion of the agronomist Khatisov I.A. they were invited from Turkey.

Then there were several more streams of refugees, in 1882, in 1905 and during the genocide.

After the Spitak earthquake, the population of Armenians also increased.

The Krasnodar Regional Public Organization "Armenian Diaspora Saint Sarkis", founded in 1992 by the brothers Armen and Hambartsum Mkhitaryan, now operates in the city.

In large villages on the territory of Greater Sochi, such as Vesyoloye, Chereshnya, Kalinovka, Gornoe Loo, Baranovka, Verkhnevesyeloe, Vysokoe, etc., Armenians make up more than half of the population. In all of Sochi, Armenians are currently over 30% of the population".  End of the article.

It turns out that the current Russian city of Sochi, according to the Armenian version, is located within the borders of the ancient "Great Armenia", the mythical "Tigran the Great" ruled here and the "Armenian legions of thousands" living in the Armenian imagination were located.

After that, you don't even need to ask "whose Abkhazia" is? If the Armenians in the Sochi region “settled in the time of Tigran the Great“ as part of his legions, ”then it turns out that all of Georgia, together with Abkhazia, was included in this mythical“ great Armenian” state.

Such "historians" are not at all embarrassed by the fact that there are no Armenian toponyms either in Abkhazia or in the Sochi region at all. On the contrary, the word "Sochi" itself is translated from the Georgian language as "fir". And the largest valley in the Sochi region is called Imeritinskaya. But in the regions of the media of Sochi and the Krasnodar Territory, which naturally belong to the Armenian lobby, it is strictly forbidden to mention at least some Georgian place names and roots in this territory. On the contrary, soon the "substantiation" of the fact that "Armenians lived here since ancient times" will probably begin.

There is little left to do. Find such or archaeological finds with "ancient Armenian inscriptions" and "ancient khachkars". Although, perhaps for the time being, it was decided not to rush with such falsifications, but to start teaching the Russian public that Armenians have lived in Sochi "since ancient times."

The Russian authorities, having put the Armenian nationalists on their heads, having left the Krasnodar Territory at the mercy of the Armenian lobby and the Armenian business, are close to losing it. It is well known how the Armenian nationalists can betray their benefactors. And it looks like the emergence of a hotbed of Armenian separatism in the Krasnodar Territory will happen much faster than many think.
