18 economic activities allowed in Georgia during the state of emergency

Despite the state of emergency and a nationwide curfew that aims to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Georgia, there are 18 economic activities that still continue in the country. 

 

Amendments made to the law on the state of emergency allow for the following economic activities in Georgia: 

Activities of medical institutions


Retail sale, production, storage, wholesale and distribution of food/animal feed, animal, animal and plant products, veterinary preparations, pesticides and agrochemicals, seed and planting materials, as well as the produce of food packaging materials/containers


Activities of mills, bakeries, milk processing enterprises


Supply of electricity, natural gas, water production/transmission/distribution, gasoline, diesel, liquefied gas, as well as delivering telecommunications, postal and waste management services


Activities of commercial banks


Payment service providers and agents providing payment services through ATMs and POS terminals


Activities of payment system operators


Activities required for continuous operation of ATMs, self-service kiosks and post terminals


Activities of the micro-financing organizations


Supply/sale of banking/financial products/services through remote channels
Manufacture/distribution/sale of medical goods, pharmaceuticals
Carrying out agricultural, livestock/poultry activities;


Driving by car - taxi (category M1);


Food delivery services
Private security activities
Lawyer activity
Activities of car service providers
Press booths


On the other hand, the following activities have been prohibited in Georgia during the state of emergency:

 

Operation of offices involved in the sale of wine and grape-produced alcoholic beverages, also other alcoholic beverages and beer


Operations of restaurants, food facilities if they do not offer food delivery service


The government resolution reads that the government of Georgia is authorized to additionally specify a list of those economic activities that are not restricted and whose operation is necessary during an emergency.
