Former Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Ermakov sentenced to 7 years in prison

Giorgi Ermakov, the former Mayor of Batumi, sentenced to seven years in prison. The judge announced the decision, but could not read the verdict because of the noise in the courtroom.

 

Ermakov’s family members will appeal the verdict in a higher court.

 

Egarslan Lomadze, the former Head of the Finance Department of the City Hall, sentenced to one year and six months in prison. The City Hall fined four other officials.

 

As for Archil Vanadze, the former Deputy Minister of Finance, the Court found him not guilty.

 

Police detained seven former and current senior officials of the Batumi City Hall on May 30. They are accused of embezzlement and abuse of office.
