Abkhazians seek a way out of the separatist impasse Sergey Shamba for dialogue with Georgia

14.01.20 14:20

The Abkhaz separatist pseudo-state project has come to a complete standstill. The recent coup in Sukhumi with the resignation of the puppet president Raul Khajmba, hated by the Abkhazians, is a confirmation of this. Although it is obvious that a simple change of separatist power will not solve the contradictions between criminal clans, it will not eradicate monstrous corruption. And crime in the conditions of political instability of a separatist pseudo-state feels more and more at ease.

At the same time, occupying Abkhazia, Russia faced a serious problem - any new puppet "obedient" to the Kremlin will, by definition, be hated by the Abkhaz. So far the Kremlin has not decided to put its "governor" directly - the occupation will look too obvious.

But this does not mean that such plans are not being considered in the Kremlin. And they make “freedom-loving Abkhazians” very transparent hints.

So, in the midst of the current Abkhazian “revolution”, the exercises of the Russian airmobile groups deployed in occupied Abkhazia started. Moreover, the "legend" of the exercises is very eloquent - Russian paratroopers must destroy the "remote forces of the conditional enemy", began in Abkhazia.

“While studying in mountainous and wooded and coastal areas of the Tsabal and Nagualou training grounds, military personnel learn the skills of parachute-free landing on various terrain and fire destruction of enemy infantry and lightly armored enemy vehicles from helicopters.” - says the press release of the occupying Southern military district on January 13, 2020.

In total, about a thousand military personnel participate in the exercises, given that these are elite landing troops, this is a huge number for small Abkhazia. According to the plan, the Russian paratroopers will work out a secret airborne transfer and liquidation of the enemy, "located at a distance."

That is, the hint for the Abkhaz "revolutionaries" is obvious. It will be necessary, they will be liquidated together with associates quickly, covertly and “at a distance”. The world community will know about this when the "freedom-loving" opposition leaders will no longer be alive.

Well, instead of puppets-Abkhazians, representatives of the "ancient long-suffering Armenian people" can be controlled by occupied Abkhazia. Moreover, in the pro-Armenian Russian media recently, almost every second article concerning Abkhazia emphasizes the "outrageous ethnocracy" in separatist Abkhazia and the fact that only Abkhazian can be the "president" under separatist legislation.

Thus, the physical destruction of the leaders of the Abkhaz people is a very real prospect. Naturally smart from the Abkhaz understand this.

It is not surprising that despite the rather frightening hints of the invaders, some Abkhaz politicians who have experience and do not agree with the role of full Kremlin puppets and the Armenian lobby are starting to talk about dialogue with Georgia.

So, the former de facto Foreign Minister of Abkhazia, and now the opposition politician Sergei Shamba, once again spoke out for dialogue with the Georgian side (https://sova.news/2020/01/13/sergej-shamba-vystupil-za-dialog-s-tbilisi/?fbclid=IwAR1TGt_3LkO9feJ3lPpFF7kIQ5CVi0ZDJw6t9HpK40STqJo_l3bbKDyK6fA).

In an interview with Mtavari Arkhi television company, he expressed the opinion that Tbilisi and Sukhumi could negotiate without intermediaries:

S. Shamba: We need to establish some kind of dialogue in order to build normal relations. I am for this and against the continuation of such a confrontation as today.

Journalist: How do you see the prospects for dialogue?

S. Shamba: We need to sit down and start talking. There are different forms.

Journalist: One on one, Tbilisi and Sukhumi?

S. Shamba: We are talking about this now, of course.

Earlier, Sergei Shamba has already advocated a dialogue with the Georgian side. In August 2018, in an interview with Ekho Moskvy radio station, the politician said that he “was a leader in the fight against Georgia, <...> but the first to start saying that it’s time to somehow establish a dialogue and think about a joint future." At the same time, Shamba stated that he did not consider Georgians to be enemies and that he had friends in Georgia.

From the very beginning, one must understand that occupation is occupation, by whatever sign of separatist “independence” it may exist. Under the conditions of occupation, there are certain cruel “frameworks” that are difficult for residents of the occupied territory to not be destroyed by the occupiers and “policemen”.

Well, for example, imagine some kind of “burgomaster” in Ukraine or Belarus occupied by the Nazis, who would say that they need a “dialogue” with the Soviet leadership in Moscow, bypassing the occupation administration. He would have been destroyed right there, and not the invaders, but their “duty executioners” like Garegin Nzhdeh.

The fact that Sergei Shamba is now talking about dialogue with the Georgians also testifies to his certain courage, as well as to the realization of the impasse that the separatist regime has entered and the futility of trying to “come to an agreement” with the invaders and the Armenian lobby. At least, because the Kremlin itself depends on the Armenian lobby. But the Armenian nationalists “looked after” Abkhazia for themselves and look at the Abkhaz as “wild natives”, from whom it is desirable to clear this territory as soon as possible.

Also, sensible Abkhazians probably understand that the plans of “Armenian friends” do not have to be realized. The occupation may end sooner than this. And they even begin to draw obvious conclusions - for the preservation of the Abkhazian people, as well as their own lives and the lives of loved ones, it is better than the occupation ends soon.

Today, Georgian society is ready to discuss a formula for the "reintegration" of Abkhazians into Georgian civil society. The subject of negotiations is to ensure the real autonomy of Abkhazia after de-occupation, as well as the issue of the return of refugees and amnesty of the participants of the 1992-1993 war by the separatists, who did not stain themselves with crimes against humanity.

There are many questions and by the time of de-occupation, most of them should be agreed upon.

There is no alternative to reconciliation between Abkhazians and Georgians. Otherwise, the Abkhaz ethos will simply be destroyed. And the earlier the real dialogue between the two peoples begins, the greater the chances of maintaining the Abkhaz ethnic group and the banal survival of those Abkhaz politicians who are worried about their people.
