Changes that will be led by Georgian Rural Development Network

The First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Giorgi Khanishvili has attended the Georgian Rural Development Network (GRDN) meeting.

 

More than 50 representatives of the Georgian government, private sector, and international organizations discussed the social network contribution to rural development as well as the EU and Georgian practice.

 

‘The network will significantly contribute to rural development. The government of Georgia made the first steps in terms of the improvement of the rural development policy,’ Khanishvili said.

 

The meeting participants also discussed the public and private sector cooperation ways and young people’s role in terms of outcomes in the successful business development and non-farming sector.

 

The social network development prospects were paid special attention.

 

The rural development network represents the EU – recognized practice and operates in all European countries.

 

The GRDN envisages the successful practice of Estonia and Finland’s same networks. The social network will be created as an online platform and will be administered by the Agriculture Ministry.

 

The event was held with the support of the EU and UNDP, in collaboration with CiDA and EU-financed ENPARD program.

 

ENPARD has been carried out since 2013 and will end in 2022. Its total budget is 179,5 mln EURO. More information on the program is available here: www.enpard.ge.
