The United Nations has released its Human Development Report (HDR) for 2019. Georgia ranks 70th out of 189 countries and territories.
The Human Development Index (HDI) combines health, education, and income data.
This year's index, based on 2018 data, shows that Georgia is ahead of Armenia (81st), Azerbaijan (87th), and Ukraine (88th), but is behind Russia (49th), Belarus (50th) and Turkey (59th position).
Georgia's Human Development Index (HDI) is 0.786, which means high human development. Georgia's HDI increased from 0.669 to 0.786 in 2000-2018, which is a 17.5% increase.
Life expectancy increased by 3.2 years, average school education by 1.1 years, and expected school education by 3.0 years.
Georgia's Gross National income per person increased by about 19.8% in 1990-2018.
The adjusted HDI rate is significantly reduced. In the case of Georgia, this decrease is 12%, which reduces HDI to 0.692.
The top five countries in the HDI are Norway (0.954), Switzerland (0.946), Ireland (0.942), Germany (0.939), and Hong Kong (0.939). The countries with the lowest human development index are Burundi (0.423), South Sudan (0.413), Chad (0.401), Central African Republic (0.381), and Niger (0.377).
