Sanctions on environmental pollution to be tightened

“Development of production is a priority in the country, but every entrepreneur must follow the environmental regulations”, Yuri Nozadze, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia stated at a meeting regarding the issue of air pollution in Rustavi.

 

"Entrepreneurial activities should not harm the environment and the health of the population”, Nozadze said.

 

The Deputy Minister noted that the Ministry is actively cooperating with organizations interested in environmental issues, which is an important step for resolving problems.

 

Inspections were carried out in the enterprises in Rustavi. The representatives of the local self-government were provided with detailed information about the violations.

 

The legislative changes prepared by the Department of Environmental Supervision were discussed at the meeting. New regulations will tighten control system and sanctions.
