In the European Parliament elections, the European community gave an answer not only to Borrell, but also to any official who made an unfair statement in relation to Georgia, Guram Macharashvili, a deputy of People's Power, told journalists.

According to him, the European society refused "injustice, war, economic collapse, etc."

"I think that, apart from us, in the European Parliament elections, the European community gave an answer not only to Borrell, but also to any official who made an unfair statement regarding Georgia. The majority of the society of the leading European countries supported, among them, our position, the traditional conservative direction, justice, peace and economic development. They refused injustice, war, economic collapse, etc. Therefore, not only us, but the largest part of the European society closed the door not only to one official, but to everyone who made an unfair statement regarding Georgia", said Macharashvili.

For information, according to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the door for Georgia to join the EU is open, but if the government continues on the same path, if it continues what it is doing, this door will be closed.

In addition, before the start of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, Borrell said that "there are measures that can be taken in relation to Georgia: the termination of support through the European Peace Facility, the suspension of part of the funding that goes directly to the government".
