With the planned change in the "Election Code", the population will have a certain feeling with which parliamentary candidate to have a bond - it has nothing to do with the restoration of the majoritarian system, about which our opponents are talking to the public, "Georgian Dream" MP Givi Mikanadze said about this at the meeting of the Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee, where the amendment to the "Election Code" was discussed in the first reading.

According to the project, the party is authorized to define the candidate for the membership of the parliament as a delegate of voters registered in the territory of the electoral district, when drawing up the party list.

In such a case, in the party list, next to the candidate for the membership of the parliament, the number of the electoral district is indicated, in the territory of which electoral district he is presented to the registered voter's delegate.

According to Mikanadze, with the said change, the party will be authorized, but not obliged, to fix the number of the electoral district with a specific candidate for the membership of the parliament in the proportional electoral list.

According to another change, based on the majoritarian election system, the candidate who gets more votes than others will be considered elected to the Sakrebulo. With this, the 40% threshold set for electing majority members of the Sakrebulo is canceled and the second round of elections will no longer take place.
