According to the mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, the public should have the opportunity to be informed about the activities of non-governmental organizations and sources of funding.
In response to the media's question regarding the transparency of non-governmental organizations, Kakha Kaladze once again recalled the draft law initiated in the parliament last year, which was aimed at regulating the mentioned issue.
"Transparency is always important. What is required from politicians, specific ministries is very important. It is also interesting to hear from non-governmental organizations, from whom they are financed, what projects are financed, etc.
Incidentally, the initiated law, which was one-to-one similar to FARA, was disguised as a Russian law to which it had nothing to do. It was an opportunity for the public to get concrete information about which non-governmental organization was funded by which country, which projects were funded, who were those people and those countries who funded against the church and faith, etc. They didn't want it, and why, I think, everything is clear," said Kakha Kaladze.
When asked what is the purpose of reports published by non-governmental organizations, which affect the reputation of the country, the mayor of the capital city answers that it is hostility to the country.
"It is enmity of the country, nothing more, when you deliberately spread disinformation, lies. This is an attempt to mislead the public, both inside and outside the country," said Kakha Kaladze.
