Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said “everything should be done” so that Georgia could “move to a new stage” on European integration - opening accession talks with the European Union by the end of the year.

The Government has “high hopes” that the accession talks will be opened with the bloc this year, Kobakhidze told the media, highlighting that the meetings, held as part of his visit to Brussels, “showed a very good progress” of the country on the EU integration path.

These two days give us a particular reason for optimism as a very friendly attitude towards our country was noticeable from the EU leaders”, the PM added.

He also pointed out the “very important and positive” meeting of the Association Council on Tuesday, where Georgia's progress was positively evaluated.
