Davit Matikashvili, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday highlighted the importance of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s first official visit to Brussels.

PM Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday embarked on his first visit to Brussels, where he would hold bilateral meetings with officials from the European Union and NATO.

“Irakli Kobakhidze is making his first visit to Brussels. Of course, we expect a successful visit with appropriate outcomes. The rapprochement of our country with the European Union is proceeding at a fast pace”, Matikashvili said.

“Our relationship with the European Union will be further deepened and the further steps that should be taken to bring Georgia and the European Union closer together will become more evident”, he concluded.

The 8th meeting of the EU-Georgia Association Council will take place in Brussels on Tuesday.
