Prosecutor's Office charges one for stalking colleague in Georgia’s west

30.01.24 16:30

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia on Tuesday charged one individual for stalking a colleague in one of the villages of Terjola Municipality in the country’s west.

The Office said the investigation had revealed a public school teacher had “systematically established non-professional and unwanted communication” with their colleague, including by “persistently requesting sexual intercourse” despite the victim's refusal, between 2021-2023.

The body said the actions had forced the victim to “radically change her usual way of life” and take a long-term, unpaid leave from work.

It noted the Office would ask the court to use imprisonment as a preventive measure against the alleged offender and remove them from their position.

It added the body would also apply to a resource centre of the Ministry of Education to study the incident and take “appropriate legal measures”.
