25.01.24 17:18

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday said the  agreement on the creation of the Intergovernmental Coordination Council between Georgia and Saudi Arabia would take bilateral cooperation to a “new level”.

In his remarks over the agreement that was signed on Wednesday, Darchiashvili noted “various ministries” would be involved in implementing the agreement, which “will give a new impetus to the relations between the two countries”.

Saudi Arabian FM Prince Faisal bin Farhan said the decision to create the Council had been made within the Georgian Prime Minister’s visit to the country in 2022.

This agreement is an important milestone in our positive relationship. There is a real opportunity to further strengthen and move the existing cooperation between our countries to an active stage”, the Saudi Minister said.

Darchiashvili added he had invited his Saudi counterpart to Georgia, where the inaugural meeting of the Council will be hosted.
