Based on the appeal of the local industry, the Agency of Competition and Consumer Protection of Georgia started monitoring the tobacco market.

 

According to the competition agency, within the monitoring framework, the agency will assess the quality of the competitive environment, market concentration, the Herfindahl Hirschman index, determine the market volume, economic agents operating in the market, market shares, etc. in the market of tobacco products.

 

According to their information, the interim results will be periodically published publicly for interested parties."In 2023, the agency completed monitoring the bancassurance market and issued 6 mandatory recommendations. Also, the liquid and natural gas market monitoring was completed, where, according to the results, it was determined that there are no risks of continuous monitoring and violation of competition legislation. The markets of motor fuel, cranberries, and nuts are currently under observation," the information says.
