25.09.19 13:45

Georgia will be awarded with two International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council President Certificates for significant reforms and high achievements in aviation safety and aviation security oversight, announces Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA).

The main criteria for receiving certificates are improving the indicators for effective implementation of ICAO standards (a 15 per cent increase) and lack of serious deficiencies.

According to the ICAO audit conducted in 2018, the overall rate of effective implementation of international civil aviation standards and practices by civil aviation in Georgia has been 87.64%.

The rate of implementing international aviation standards and practices by the GCAA was 87.94 per cent, said the audit report conducted by ICAO in 2018.

Georgia is in the first place in the region in terms of implementing and overseeing international aviation standards.

Since 2013, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency has improved aviation safety oversight by almost 56 per cent (from 32 per cent to 87.64 per cent), while aviation security oversight has improved by 30 per cent (from 58 per cent to 87.8 per cent).

The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency will be awarded with certificates at the 40th session of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montréal, Canada from September 24 to October 4.
