Prohibited dyes were detected in 5 food samples

Inspectors of the National Food Agency, in order to determine the content of dyes in food, took 61 samples of different foods and examined them in an accredited laboratory. As a result of the research, the prohibited dyes of the Sudan group were found in 5 samples:

 

Red pepper produced by "Lago" LLC (stamped, production date: 06/10/2023, expiration date 12 months), was found to be Sudan I dye. Address: "Central Market" LLC, Senaki, Rustaveli St. N180 - individual selling at the counter Eliso Jologua;

 

In the sample of his own produced ajik (date of manufacture: 13/10/2023. Expiry date: 1 year) taken from a natural person at the counter, Eliso Jologua, the following were found: sudan I; Sudan Red G and Para Red. Address: Central Market Ltd., Senaki, Rustaveli St. N180;

 

Sudan I dye was found in red pepper produced by "Lago" LLC (purely ground, production date: 06/10/2023. Shelf life 1 year). Address: Luka LLC, st. Poti, Farnavaz Mefi N1, (area adjacent to the agricultural market) natural person Mzia Zukhbaya;

 

In the sample of Megruli Ajiki (production date: 10/10/2023. Expiry date: 6 months) taken from individual entrepreneur Zeinab Goradze: sudan I; Sudan Red G and Para Red. Address: Batumi city, Mayakovsky street N4;

 

In the sample of Megruli Ajiki (production date: 12/10/2023. Expiry date: 1 year) taken from individual entrepreneur Khvicha Shavadze, the following were found: sudan I; Sudan Red G and Para Red. Address: City of Kobuleti, Freedom St. N19. The area around the agricultural market.

 

In accordance with the legislation, the said food is subject to removal from the market and destruction, which will be supervised by the National Food Agency.

 

The National Food Agency urges consumers, if they have purchased the named food at the mentioned facilities, to refrain from using it.

 

Dyes of the Sudan group belong to the group of artificial azo dyes and are a chemical food contaminant, the addition of which to food is prohibited.
