22.11.23 13:30

The strategic partnership between Georgia and the United Kingdom was discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between a Georgian Parliamentary delegation led by Irakli Beraia, the Chair of the Defence and Security Committee in the legislative body, and officials of the British Parliament during the ongoing visit of the MPs from Georgia to the country.

The meeting focused on the “key directions” of the strategic partnership, enhancement of defence capacity and security, the Georgian Parliament said.

The visiting delegation informed Jonathan Djanogly, the Chair of the Inter-Party Parliamentary Group Working on Georgian matters in the UK Parliament and Robert Courts, the Chair of the Defence Committee of the House of Commons, about the situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia and underlined the necessity of ensuring security guarantees from international partners for Georgia.

The Georgian MPs also stressed the role of the UK in de-occupation of the regions, security interests and NATO integration of the country.
