The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operative-search measures and investigative activities carried out recently, arrested 20 people in Tbilisi and the regions on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. The Ministry of Internal Affairs disseminates information.
According to the agency, as a result of the search conducted by the law enforcement officers, illegal weapons and ammunition were seized as evidence.
"The crime is punishable by 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The employees of Tbilisi Police Department's Main Investigative Division and Detectives (Operative) Main Division, as a result of joint actions conducted at different times, arrested 3 persons on the charge of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition - J.M. born in 1972, L. A. and Z.M., born in 1984.
As a result of the search of the personal and residential houses of the accused, the law enforcement officers seized various types of weapons and cartridges as evidence.
Employees of the Vake-Saburtalo main division of the Tbilisi Police Department, arrested A.A., born in 1998, and G.A. born in 1993, convicted in the past. As a result of the personal and vehicle searches of the defendants, law enforcement officers seized 2 firearms, 3 muzzles and 35 cartridges as evidence.
The employees of the same division, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, arrested 2 persons - D. Kh, convicted in the past, born in 1999, and G. Ch., born in 1968, convicted in the past. arrested. The police seized a firearm, a pistol, 2 muzzles, 18 cartridges and a cold weapon as evidence.
Employees of Didube-Chugureti Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department, arrested T.G., born in 1990. and V. Ch., born in 1989, at different times. Law enforcement officers, as a result of the search of the residences of the defendants, seized 2 pistols, 2 muzzles and 6 cartridges as evidence.
As a result of operational measures and investigative activities carried out at different times, the employees of the Kharagauli and Terjola district divisions of the Imereti Police Department arrested 2 persons - V.S., born in 1981. and K.K., born in 1980, convicted in the past. As a result of the search of the residences of the defendants and the auxiliary storage, the police seized a fire pistol, an automatic fire weapon and a muzzle as evidence.
The employees of the same police department, together with the employees of the Shida Kartli police department, arrested D. Ts, convicted in the past, born in 1982. As a result of the search of the house of the accused, a fire pistol, 4 muzzles and 78 cartridges were seized as evidence.
The employees of Mestia, Senaki, Tsalenjikha and Martvili district divisions of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions carried out at different times, arrested 4 persons - J.D. born in 1993, convicted in the past, A.T. born in 1992, N.V. born in 1981 Born, and K.Dz., born in 1977.
As a result of the search of personal, residential houses and cars of the accused, the police seized 4 automatic firearms, 3 pistols, 2 hunting rifles, 4 muzzles, 51 cartridges and a small-caliber rifle as evidence.
The employees of the investigative division of the Kakheti Police Department and the Akhmeta regional division of the same department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, arrested 2 persons - P.K., born in 1990, and L.A., born in 1988. As a result of the search of the personal and residential house of the accused, the law enforcement officers seized 2 fire pistols with 25 cartridges and a muzzle as evidence.
The employees of the Oni district division of the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department, arrested V.G., born in 1982. As a result of the search of the residential house, the following were seized as evidence: a cut-off hunting rifle and 24 cartridges.
The employees of Dusheti District Division of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department, arrested O.Ts., born in 1972. As a result of the search of the house of the accused, the law enforcement officers seized an automatic firearm, a machine gun, 8 muzzles and 400 cartridges as evidence.
"The investigation into the fact of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being conducted under the 3rd and 4th parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the information released by the agency reads.
