Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Vakhtang Tsintsadze on Monday said the number of employed individuals across the country had increased by 7,700 year-on-year and reached a “record-high” figure of 1.36 million in the third quarter of 2023.

The Ministry cited the official as saying the employment rate was also at a high point in the reporting period and amounted to 45.3 percent.

The Deputy Minister noted a “high” economic growth rate had continued in the country for the third year, placing Georgia as a “leader” both in the wider region and among European countries.

He said the number of hired employees increased by 29,300 individuals - or by 3.2 percent - and reached 943,200 in the third quarter, while the number of self-employed decreased by 21,500 - 4.8 percent - and equalled to 422,800.

Tsintsadze added economic growth trends were expected to be continued “in the coming years”, adding the dynamic would “positively affect” both the number of employed individuals and reduction of poverty.
