Georgia’s membership of European Network of Historic Gardens to be discussed in Portugal

Georgia’s becoming a member of the European Network of Historic Gardens will be discussed in Portugal on September 21.


The Third Forum on Historic Gardens: Maintaining and Managing Historic Gardens for a New Era will take place in the Portuguese city of Sintra.


The Georgian delegation headed by Nikoloz Antidze, Director General of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation, will attend the forum for the first time.


According to the Agency, Georgia has the chance to be automatically be engaged in the cultural route of the Council of Europe and be presented with 5 gardens – Tbilisi Botanic Garden, Batumi Botanic Garden, Zugdidi Botanic Garden, Kutaisi Botanic Garden, and Tsinandali Chavchavadze Historic Garden.


Germany is another candidate for the organization’s membership. The European Network of Historic Gardens has had three members for the time being: Spain, Italy and Portugal.
