According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the agency has been informed about the capture of two Georgian citizens fighting in Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
As noted in the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Georgian side will use all available international mechanisms to protect the rights of Georgian citizens.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, based on open sources, has been informed of the capture of two Georgian citizens fighting in Ukraine (G.G. and G.Sh.) by the armed forces of the Russian Federation during military operations.
The Georgian side will use all international mechanisms at its disposal, including the International Red Cross and the Swiss Confederation, as a mediator between Georgia and the Russian Federation, to protect the rights of Georgian citizens guaranteed by the Constitution," the statement reads.
