Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi will welcome Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations with an unveiling of a new Christmas tree on December 15, Mayor Kakha Kaladze said on Wednesday.

In comments about the City Hall’s preparations for the festive season celebrations, Kaladze revealed Tbilisi’s main Rustaveli Avenue would be decorated with new illuminations in early December.

Decorations have already been installed in over 30 streets of the city as part of the preparations.

Kaladze also said the Christmas Village for the festive season would be set up at the renovated Orbeliani Square and Deda Ena Garden park on the right bank of river Mtkvari, while the city’s First Republic Square would host a gala concert on December 31.
