FM: Georgia's goal together with two brotherly nations is to ensure peace and stability

“Georgia’s goal together with our two brotherly nations is to ensure peace and stability in the region,” said Ilia Darchiashvili, Georgian Foreign Minister.

In the Tavisufali Khedva (Free Vision) Program of the GPB’s First Channel, Darchiashvili noted that Georgia is a successful impartial player in the process.

According to the FM, with the effort of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, a mutually beneficial agreement was reached in mediation of the “complex conflict” between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In his words, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan praised Georgia’s role many times.

“Georgia’s stance is to give both countries the opportunity to use Georgia’s transit function under equal conditions. Accordingly, this is our response to the matter and further insinuation or going in-depth into the matter would be inappropriate,” he said in responding to the question over the reports that Armenia was supplied armor vehicles from France through Georgia.

Elaborating on regional relations development, Ilia Darchiashvili rejected joining 3+3 format saying Georgia had friendly relations with Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia in bilateral formats. He added that Georgia was in solidarity with Ukraine.

The FM stressed that Georgia would update foreign relations-related strategic documents that would “logically reflect the ongoing processes in the region and beyond.

“This will be an adequate mechanism for Georgia to comply with the current processes in the world. Each of our foreign policy steps, on the one hand, is consistent with the positioning of our partners, on the other hand, it is in line with our foreign policy priorities and, on the third hand, ensures the interest and desire of our people to live in a peaceful, economically developed country,” he said.
