I will say it frankly, it was a shameful statement, for which the government had to apologize, Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze said at the parliament session, thus responding to Salome Zurabishvili's statement about the Chinese President.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, Salome Zurabishvili is trying to harm the interests of the Georgian state, because she has months left before her term expires.
"This is not the first time, you remember her statement in 2019 regarding the Gareji issue. It took months for the government to avoid diplomatic problems. Zurabishvili is trying to somehow damage our state interests. She has months left before the expiration of her term of office, and she is trying to use these months as much as possible to fulfill the tasks directed against the state. Of course, Salome Zurabishvili will not be able to do that. She remains the formal president, as everyone has already saw. Therefore, state interests will be fully protected," Kobakhidze said.
In addition, Kobakhidze expects that Salome Zurabishvili will continue to violate the Constitution.
"We haven't had much contact with the President before, and we won't have it in these months either. She will have one speech in the parliament, she will come and go. She will come to the parade once and leave. These are all her functions. As for her continued violation of the Constitution, we expect that. She already violated the Georgian Constitution after the impeachment procedure when she made an unconstitutional visit. She will continue this activity," said Kobakhidze.
For information, the President of Georgia, when asked in an interview with LCI if she "hopes that Putin and also Xi Jinping will ever be tried", answered that in her inner belief, it "would be a historic result, which would put certain issues in their place".
"I believe in my inner belief that this would be a historic result, which would put certain issues in their place. If you ask me if I think this is realistic, no," the President said.
